Caretta Caretta and İztuzu in Dalyan: A Nature Guide for Families
A river cruise beneath rock tombs, sea turtles and the long sands of İztuzu — here is why we love Dalyan.
Dalyan, close to Fethiye, is a unique area where nature and history meet. The boat ride through the reed-lined channels is the most enjoyable part of the day.
Lycian rock tombs
As you cruise along the river you will see Lycian royal tombs carved into the cliffs around 2,300 years ago. Keep your camera ready.
Caretta Caretta turtles
The area is home to the protected Caretta Caretta loggerhead turtle. With luck you may see them up close, and blue crabs too. Please do not touch or try to feed the turtles.
İztuzu Beach
The day ends at İztuzu, the long sandy beach where the turtles nest. Follow the conservation rules and keep away from marked nests in the sand.
For families: The tour is easy-going and fun for children. Remember a hat, sunscreen and swimwear.
